Artist's Comments

Out of class art assignment two. This one put me through alot of stress. I nearly gave up multiple times but with so many family members around to support me through my depression bouts I was able to keep at it and see that it was a possible concept.

Hours invested. 25
laid to rest. 3 graphite pencils and one ebony.
about $65.00 worth of suplies used on this image.

Once again, I'm completely blown away. Those classes must really be paying off. Your perspective is damn-near flawless, but what really gets me is the distorted reflection on the surface of the water. The fact that you can even make a convincing attempt at something like that, to say nothing of succeeding completely as you've done, is incredible! I also have to say, though this is a matter of purely personal taste, that I'm glad to see you doing something in the realm of non-anthro art. You've improved more than anything else in the area of human anatomy and facial features.

Thanks for leaving a comment Az. And thank you for the compliments. It really makes all the stress worth it to know the end result is apreciated. I was very afraid of drawing humans for the longest time. But after this assignment I've learned patients is a virtue when it comes to drawing faces and it is possible to do other then anthro. I wouldn't mind doing more. :)

It just wouldn't be the same without those detail. Thanks for the comment. :) Now if I could just learn to do line art. I just can't seem to make it work for me.

Looking back through your gallery, it is a joy to see how much your work has progressed over the last few years!

This is wonderful, Linda. Obviously, you have worked hard at combining all the elements into a believable, comprehensive image. I really like the time spent on the different textures, from the "look" of the marble around the pool, to the roughness of the bricks and the folds of the clothing.

The water has a nice quality of depth to it as the viewer is allowed a glimpse below the surface, and the inclusion of the fish is a necessary detail to complete the story.

Keep up the fine work!

*chuckles* I have it still in the process of being finished. It sort of took a back seat to collage sadly. I'll have to pull it out and look over it again tonight. :)
